Can I use skim, low-fat or non-fat milk instead of whole milk in this small batch baked ube mochi donuts recipe Yes, but with reservations. I’m not quite sure where the ginger comes in, but the blend of flavors is rather tasty. You need ½ cup plus 1 Tablespoon milk to make the baked ube mochi donuts, and another 2 teaspoons to make the glaze. It has a light, crisp flavor, not overly sweet, and it brings out the sweetness in Fat Straws’ ever consistent and delicious bubbles. As they describe it, it is “organic white peony hand-blended with organic strawberries, marigolds, and essence of guava.” It has low caffeine. Now, it wouldn’t be a Symphony in Tea post without some bubble tea, right? I got the Tea of the Day, which was the White Guava Ginger. Next time I go to a pop-up, I am definitely going to try the strawberry donut to see if that also has a fresh, fruity glaze! The glaze is bursting with fresh, fruity flavor and complements the dough perfectly. The blueberry donut was the star of the two. The cookies & cream donut is topped with pieces of cookie, adding some texture to the donut. They do not feel excessively heavy or rich, which makes me feel slightly better about eating these donuts. Both have a wonderfully chewy texture to the dough. I tried the blueberry and cookies & cream donuts. In addition to the beautiful presentation, what sets these donuts apart from the donut shop down the street is that they are made with mochi flour, making them light and chewy, not unlike the boba in the bubble tea! They are beautifully molded into an attractive looking donut. Today’s pop-up offered five different flavors: blueberry, cookies & cream, chocolate, match, and strawberry. Once the new store is up, they will be making donuts in that location! Fat Straws is expanding beyond bubble tea! Leading up to this new location, they have been making donuts at a commercial space and selling them at their current stores. Turns out: Fat Straws will be opening a *fourth* location in Richardson. After missing a few events due to scheduling, I was able to attend today.
